Sunday Lately, 78

June 26, 2016

Sunday Lately is a weekly link up brought to you by the Blogger Tribe. Link up and see what's been happening lately!Sunday Lately is a weekly linkup hosted by the Blogger Tribe (which is being fearlessly lead by Meghan, Nicole, Katy, and myself). We e-hang out every Sunday, sharing a small glimpse into the last week of life in our own worlds. We’d love if you could join us!
This week’s themes: Creating, Finding, Switching, Forgetting, Craving

Creating

Awkward: I’ve been feeling a little down this week (it was an off week) and I realized too late that one way to pull myself out of a funk is by creating something. So I shredded some paper instead. It was enough that I felt like I did something and it was still actually doing something that I have to keep up with. So I guess it wasn’t too bad.

Awesome: I want to create a little shop like Harvest + Bloom or Nicole Antoinette – a collection of eBooks that are a few dollars each. But I don’t know what I’d create. I could probably find something to do for my social media services site, but I have no idea what I’d put together for here. What would you want to see?

Finding

Awkward: I’m finding it hard to find the time to work out. I know it’s important and I feel better when I do, but it’s so hot to run outside (don’t you dare ask me to get up earlier to run before the sun comes up. It just won’t happen) and I’m not super interested in driving to a gym and being inside when it’s so nice out. I have a friend (y’all know Marissa, right?) who does Barre and I’ve been doing Pilates. I should just suck it up and drive to a class more often.

Awesome: I’m finding that it’s easier to write the awkward categories this week than the awesome ones. We all have cycles. And I’m trying to embrace the cycles (that’s the awesome part of this…surrendering control).

Switching

Awkward: I’ve been trying to find the best place to work, so I’ve been switching up my work environment. That means I have to pack up every single possible notebook, colored pen, and scrap of paper with ideas scrawled on them lest I forget something, rendering the work session useless because, “OMG HOW could you expect me to write without my Favorite Writing Pen?? I just have my Good Idea Pen and that CLEARLY can’t be used to write deep thoughts!!”

Side note: How adorable are these Emily Ley Pineapple Paper Clips? It’s kind of an extravagant purchase, but so cute!

Adorable desk accessories!! Emily Ley Pineapple Paper Clips are too cute.

Awesome: Along with that, it is pretty rad that I get to decide where and when I want to work. So I’ve been trying different coffee shops, bars, even on the porch at home and it’s awesome.

Forgetting

Awkward: Ugh, I’m forgetting everything. I’m at the point where I’ll walk into a room with a cup of coffee, remember something I need to do so I walk out and leave my coffee unattended and forgotten for hours, then suddenly realize, “I didn’t finish my coffee!” I end up with 8 half-drank cups of coffee all over and barely any caffeine buzz.

Awesome: Hmmm. I don’t know what’s awesome that I forgot because I probably forgot it.

Craving

Awkward: It’s “that” week for me, so I’ve been stuffing anything in my mouth that’s not nailed down (phrasing). I want to eat ALL THE THINGS. Especially sweet/salty/crunchy things.

Awesome: Summer means I have been craving some time in the water, like on a boat or at the beach. Who has a beach house I can visit?

Sunday Lately, 77 – on Wednesday

June 22, 2016

Sunday Lately is a weekly link up brought to you by the Blogger Tribe. We e-hang out every Sunday, sharing a small glimpse into the last week of life in our own worlds. We’d love if you could join us!
This week’s themes: Doing, Appreciating, Designing, Humming, Expecting

I’m getting so good at posting Sunday Lately on days that aren’t Sunday. Better late than never, right!?

Doing

Awkward: I guess there really isn’t anything awkward I’m doing. The only thing I can think of is that awkwardness that comes from trying to code your own site when you really don’t know what you’re doing. Marianne at DYOB is the best resource for DIY blog design.

Awesome: I have been working on blog posts for AngelicaRoss.co (hopefully launching the blog next week but we’ll see!) and it feels good to be digging in to be a social media resource again. I haven’t written about that on here in a while.

Appreciating

Awkward: Referrals for financial planning help. I so wish I didn’t have to think about it. I am not a financial planner nor do I know a think about IRAs, mutual funds, etc, so I am blindly following whatever this guy tells me to.

Awesome: It’s weird to say I appreciate the air conditioning, but I do. I really try not to turn it on (I made it through last summer without turning it on until my mother visited in September and broke the streak) but this week has been so swampy at night that I have to run it or I wake up feeling sick. Sexy, huh?

Designing

Awkward: All the new stuff I need for a business. I feel like whenever I have cards printed up, something changes (my domain name, my email address, something) so it’s like…why did I bother?

Awesome: I’m thisclose to nailing a new color scheme and layout. Send the good vibes, guys!

Humming

Awkward: Everything on the radio sucks. Is it just me? Ugh. I’ve been listening to my old iPod in the car because I’m just so sick of the over-played junk that’s forced upon us from broadcast stations.

Awesome: I’ve gotten some classics stuck in my head recently. I had a playlist of ghetto rap songs that my best friend and I used to blast from my piece of crap Cavalier while driving around a really nice area so I’ve been humming some Trick Daddy and T.I. That should probably go in the awkward category, huh?

Expecting

Awkward: My mom will be in town this coming weekend and she wanted me to go down to Virginia to see her the following weekend, so I’ll be expecting a lot of family time. Which isn’t awkward per se, but it does take a bit of self-control not to be the total opinionated pirate that I am and when I don’t exercise that constraint…it can be a little awkward.

Awesome: Although to my mother’s credit, she usually understands when I’m an opinionated pirate so that’s awesome.

Enter at your own whisk punny tea towel. So cute!

Last time she was here, I saw this. I love me some puns and kitchen puns are even better!

Sunday Lately, 76

June 12, 2016

Sunday Lately is a weekly link up brought to you by the Blogger Tribe. Link up and see what's been happening lately!Sunday Lately is a weekly linkup hosted by the Blogger Tribe (which is being fearlessly lead by Meghan, Nicole, Katy, and myself). We e-hang out every Sunday, sharing a small glimpse into the last week of life in our own worlds. We’d love if you could join us!
This week’s themes: Planning, Loving, Reading, Wishing, Feeling

Planning

Awkward: I thought my garden plan was solid, but something keeps eating the leaves off of certain plants. My eggplant was eaten and now it’s coming back. My broccoli and Brussels sprouts are all gone and part of an heirloom tomato is gone too. Stupid whatever is eating them.

Awesome: I’m planning my last day at work on Tuesday. That’s pretty awesome. I’ll be focusing full time on my content management and copywriting services. Yay!

Loving

Awkward: I’m loving the birds that have been roosting on my windowsills. Not. My windows are split down the center and crank outward, so these birds are getting in enough to sit themselves down, then when I try to get them off the ledge, they can’t get themselves out. Ugh!

Awesome: I’ve been re-watching The Office, spending time organizing my house, and trying to keep up with my Happy Planner decorating. And it’s been awesome.

Reading

Awkward: I haven’t read anything since I had time off for my tonsillectomy.

Awesome: When I was off for my tonsillectomy, I read four books in five or six days: Yes Please, The Amateur’s Guide to the Pursuit of Happiness, Choose Yourself, and Orange is the New Black.

Great books you need to read this summer!

Wishing

Awkward: I can’t say I’ve been wishing for anything awkward recently.

Awesome: I can’t wait for Wednesday to get here. It’s the beginning of something new and I can’t wait.

Feeling

Awkward: I haven’t really done much exercise since my tonsillectomy unless you count endless hours of pulling weeds and I’m starting to feel meh. I need to get back into it big time.

Awesome: I kept the air conditioning on yesterday and it felt pretty damn good. I’ve been trying to keep costs low so I haven’t been running it.  #cheap

This week’s themes: Doing, Appreciating, Designing, Humming, Expecting

Doing

Awkward: I worked a beerfest yesterday (that isn’t the awkward part) selling boozy cupcakes. After 4+ hours on my feet, my posture was crazy out of whack and I guess I wasn’t sucking in my gut enough because someone pointed to my stomach and said, “Congratulations. Guess you can’t have anything here, huh?” That felt great, let me tell you.

Prohibition Pastries at Beers of the Burgh

Awesome: I’m finally getting back into my garden. It’s a hot mess, but I did it to myself by not spreading leaves last fall. So I’ve been weeding it through the raindrops. Apparently there’s going to be a frost tonight though. In May.

Appreciating

Awkward: It’s hard to think of something awkward to appreciate..

Awesome: The support around my tonsillectomy this Thursday has been pretty awesome.

Designing

Awkward: I have to think of (and photograph) a festival outfit for Wear to Where before this Friday, but really before Thursday and I have no idea what to wear.

Awesome: Hmm that’s a good one. I’m still working on AngelicaRoss.co so does that count?

Humming

Awkward: I was singing and dancing to The Struts during a run this week and definitely got caught by a neighbor. So that’s fun.

Awesome: I’ve had The Struts stuck in my head since last Tuesday’s concert with Caitlin. Today it’s “Young Star” but for the past few days it’s been “Mary Go Round.”

Expecting

Awkward: I’m so expecting lots of pain this week. Yay getting tonsils removed later in life!

Awesome: I’m expecting to make myself ice cream this week for the tonsillectomy recovery. It’s going to be a nice treat.

Sunday Lately, 71 — on Thursday

May 12, 2016

Sunday Lately is a weekly link up brought to you by the Blogger Tribe. Link up and see what's been happening lately!Sunday Lately is a weekly linkup hosted by the Blogger Tribe (which is being fearlessly lead by Meghan, Nicole, Katy, and myself). We e-hang out every Sunday, sharing a small glimpse into the last week of life in our own worlds. We’d love if you could join us!
This week’s themes: Planning, Loving, Reading, Wishing, Feeling

Planning

Awkward: A tonsillectomy. Ugh I don’t want to do this. But I have to. I snore like a lumberjack. And I want to reduce my chance of future sinus infections and subsequent bouts of vertigo.

Awesome: My mom will be here to help out while I recover. And I traveled to see her for Mother’s Day (hence why this wasn’t written on Sunday).

Loving

Awkward: Is it weird that I like grocery shopping? Well I do. And I went to the store for the first time in weeks. It’s amazing how having groceries in your fridge makes you feel like an adult again.

Awesome: I went for a run today. It was the first one after the marathon. It was hot. It was super humid. I was sweating like a truck driver in August. But I did it and it was good.

Reading

Awesome: Orange is the New Black. Yes, kids, it was a memoir first.

Awkward: My aunt passed that book along to me. And there’s some racy stuff there. It’s always weird to think that a family member read that before you.

Wishing

Awkward: I got nothing here, guys.

Awesome: For summer. Because summer parties are the best.

Feeling

Awkward: I’ve been battling with some depressive tendencies and I’m finally admitting it to myself and seeing what I need to do to stop this. I’m sure you can’t tell because I’m always a ray of sunshine on here (insert eye roll emoji here).

Awesome: Now that I know that things aren’t right, I’m working to identify what’s wrong and how I can get myself back on a healthy and happy track.
