Wear to Where, Day 3 – Date Night In

November 12, 2015

I wear jeans almost all the time. They’re my go-to uniform for just about everything. But lately I’ve been embracing leggings. Just at home, guys, when no one is around to see me. Because honestly, sometimes they’re unflattering. I got a pair from Target that are THIN and shows things even I don’t want to see.

So I haven’t given much thought to date night in attire. If I do a movie or a hang-out-whatever night, I’m just in jeans. Today’s Wear to Where ladies are putting me to shame though.

Check out how Hayes Days, Adventures in Aubreyland, HattieLu Handmade, Wally and Grace, Paisley Roots style date night looks that are perfect for lounging at home and don’t cause I-Can’t-Answer-The-Door-For-The-Pizza-Guy-itis.

Wear to Where, Day 2 – Brunch

November 11, 2015

I grew up when brunch was something we’d do almost every Sunday. There was a hotel in Pittsburgh that had my favorite brunch. I can’t remember what it was actually called, but it was painted a salmon pink color so I called it the Salmon Hotel.

Since it was the 90s, I had some pretty awesome brunch looks, but these ladies today are rivaling my neon and pouf-y bangs: GLITZ a Beautiful Life, The Fashionable Eye, The Art of Oh, Scientific Seamstress, Rebel & Malice

Wear to Where, Day 1 – Office Attire

November 10, 2015

When I think of office attire, my mind goes blank. I haven’t had to wear something traditionally “office-like” in over a year. I work in a casual environment and while I’ll wear dresses and skirts, I’m pretty sure everyone would think I’m interviewing somewhere else if I rolled in with trousers and heels. So my office-wear is drastically different from a lawyer.

The one thing I do know about office attire is that you don’t want to lose your personality. And today’s Wear to Where ladies have some seriously professionally fun outfits.

Check out Nicolina.Co, Fashionably Employed, Creative Counselor, and Sprouting JubeJube, today’s models to see how they’re wearing their office fashions.

Welcome to Wear To Where

November 9, 2015

Once upon a time, a sewer and a non-sewer had an idea. It was mostly the sewer’s idea. What if you did a fashion post where you had a specific place or event you were dressing for, like “what would you wear to a brewery,” because let’s face it, both the sewer and the non-sewer are kind of lushes.

The sewer said, “Let’s pick a few other prompts and open it up for other sewers and fashiony types.” The non-sewer was all about this. Somehow, 35 other bloggers thought the idea was just so awesome too. Thus, Wear to Where was born.

If you can’t guess. I’m the non-sewer and Katy of Wild and Wanderful / Handmade Escapade is the sewer.

Wear to Where’s goal is to collide two worlds: Fashion and Sewing. We have two (!!) full weeks of people who sew their own clothes and people who style clothes paired up in a head-to-head battle highlighting the places each blogger would wear their style.

Creative Closet: Jewels and Jewel Tones

September 15, 2015

Summer is my season.  The light fabrics, brighter colors, and all-around more carefree feel is fantastic.  That said, there’s something about the golden light of fall that’s so beautiful.  I love the jewel tones that come out in the fall.  It isn’t the dark black and endless gray of winter, but it isn’t the in-your-face punch of color of summer.

It also is the perfect time to bust out cranberry-matte lips and leather.  I feel like my most bad-ass self in the fall.

So I figured today’s Creative Closet prompt is a perfect time to come out of outfit-sharing hibernation.

Leather jacket, vampy lipstick, and jewel tones for fall.

Leather jacket: No.14 Boutique (during the #StylishPittsburgh event!)
Lips: Dazed by ColourPop
Top: Mossimo @ Target
Jeans: American Eagle
Sneakers: Converse

Jewel tones and red lips for fall | Gardening In High Heels

Nothing compliments jewel tones quite like some jewels.  You know my favorite way to dress up an outfit is to add a little sparkle.  And damn is this ring sparkly.

Anjolee anniversary eternity band | Gardening In High Heels

I’ve been looking for a great eternity band to wear and I love this ring from Anjolee.  Their anniversary rings are stunning and super comfortable, even though the U setting has some height to it.  And this is just further proof that you don’t need to wait around for someone to buy you something shiny – go out and get it yourself.

Although if you need to give someone a little push…go ahead and bookmark the shiz out of that page.

I love the amethyst pop to contrast with the emerald shirt.  It isn’t an obvious pop, but it’s enough of a statement that I don’t really wear other jewels when I have this ring on.

I also can’t get enough of this lipstick.  It’s my first ColourPop Lippie Stix shade and I looooove it.  Like, “I want to wear this even when I’m just hanging out around the house” love it.

Statement eternity band by Anjolee, jewel tones, and red lips..fall perfection! | Gardening In High Heels

Truly embracing my inner rebel with this outfit.

How do you add some fall into your outfits?  Any other lovers of jewel tones?

This post was sponsored by Anjolee. Their jewelry is gorgeous and I couldn’t resist spreading the word about them! Thank you for supporting the brands that support GIHH.
