Sunday Lately, 78

June 26, 2016

Sunday Lately is a weekly link up brought to you by the Blogger Tribe. Link up and see what's been happening lately!Sunday Lately is a weekly linkup hosted by the Blogger Tribe (which is being fearlessly lead by Meghan, Nicole, Katy, and myself). We e-hang out every Sunday, sharing a small glimpse into the last week of life in our own worlds. We’d love if you could join us!
This week’s themes: Creating, Finding, Switching, Forgetting, Craving

Creating

Awkward: I’ve been feeling a little down this week (it was an off week) and I realized too late that one way to pull myself out of a funk is by creating something. So I shredded some paper instead. It was enough that I felt like I did something and it was still actually doing something that I have to keep up with. So I guess it wasn’t too bad.

Awesome: I want to create a little shop like Harvest + Bloom or Nicole Antoinette – a collection of eBooks that are a few dollars each. But I don’t know what I’d create. I could probably find something to do for my social media services site, but I have no idea what I’d put together for here. What would you want to see?

Finding

Awkward: I’m finding it hard to find the time to work out. I know it’s important and I feel better when I do, but it’s so hot to run outside (don’t you dare ask me to get up earlier to run before the sun comes up. It just won’t happen) and I’m not super interested in driving to a gym and being inside when it’s so nice out. I have a friend (y’all know Marissa, right?) who does Barre and I’ve been doing Pilates. I should just suck it up and drive to a class more often.

Awesome: I’m finding that it’s easier to write the awkward categories this week than the awesome ones. We all have cycles. And I’m trying to embrace the cycles (that’s the awesome part of this…surrendering control).

Switching

Awkward: I’ve been trying to find the best place to work, so I’ve been switching up my work environment. That means I have to pack up every single possible notebook, colored pen, and scrap of paper with ideas scrawled on them lest I forget something, rendering the work session useless because, “OMG HOW could you expect me to write without my Favorite Writing Pen?? I just have my Good Idea Pen and that CLEARLY can’t be used to write deep thoughts!!”

Side note: How adorable are these Emily Ley Pineapple Paper Clips? It’s kind of an extravagant purchase, but so cute!

Adorable desk accessories!! Emily Ley Pineapple Paper Clips are too cute.

Awesome: Along with that, it is pretty rad that I get to decide where and when I want to work. So I’ve been trying different coffee shops, bars, even on the porch at home and it’s awesome.

Forgetting

Awkward: Ugh, I’m forgetting everything. I’m at the point where I’ll walk into a room with a cup of coffee, remember something I need to do so I walk out and leave my coffee unattended and forgotten for hours, then suddenly realize, “I didn’t finish my coffee!” I end up with 8 half-drank cups of coffee all over and barely any caffeine buzz.

Awesome: Hmmm. I don’t know what’s awesome that I forgot because I probably forgot it.

Craving

Awkward: It’s “that” week for me, so I’ve been stuffing anything in my mouth that’s not nailed down (phrasing). I want to eat ALL THE THINGS. Especially sweet/salty/crunchy things.

Awesome: Summer means I have been craving some time in the water, like on a boat or at the beach. Who has a beach house I can visit?

Real, true life story: I LOVE shredding paper. There is honestly something cathartic about it.

    • Angelica @GardeningInHighHeels

There is!! I bought a second shredder because my first one broke and for a fleeting second, I tried to fix the broken one so I could have ANOTHER shredder going when the first one auto-shut off for 15 minutes.

OMG it’s THAT WEEK for me and SAME. (raises fist in solidarity)

I think eBooks on digital/social marketing would be great for folks, like marketing your personal blog on a budget, things like that.

    • Angelica @GardeningInHighHeels

Solidarity sister!! (PS: if you’re into Gilmore Girls, this site has the most amazing typography of Gilmore quotes http://www.kindredhandicrafts.com/gilmore-girls-shirts/gilmore-girls-lorelai-rory-solidarity-sister?category=women%27s+tees)

Thank you for the confirmation/recommendation. I like the idea of a DIY guide just to have out there in case someone wants my knowledge but not my services.

I LOVE Gilmore Girls! I actually visited the set of the Gilmore “mansion” when it was originally on-air, but couldn’t go to Stars Hollow set because they were actively filming the hay maze episode. But it felt special nonetheless, they were ON SET and I was breathing the same air LOL

All I want to do is lay on a beach right now. I WANT to so badly. Just a week of getting up, having a light breakfast, packing a beach lunch and staying out on the sand all day long with a book, cooler, and a beach blanket, in and out of the sand and surf.
You have a lot of good info already on the blog. Package it up short and sweet with bonus material only available for your books. At the right price, it would definitely be worth it. People are always looking for good information on how to grow their blog and use social media. I have a friend right now that’s so stumped with trying to start a free wordpress blog that she’s having trouble even publishing a post. A less convoluted step by step would be worth it to her. She’s older, but there’s all kinds of markets for ebooks.
Those EL paper clips tempt me every time I go on that website. They’re awesome.
I’ve been invited to try orange theory fitness several times. It’s right up my alley with all the cross training and I want to try it, but I hate driving anywhere after work too.

    • Angelica @GardeningInHighHeels

YES to all of that. I think the biggest appeal right now to a beach is reading a real book and soaking up the sun and that being the ONLY thing I have to do.

That’s such a good idea to do a quick start guide in a very easy to follow format that anyone can use. I once had a customer at work request for me to do webinars because the way I explained things was very easy to follow. Thanks for the ideas!

She had the paper clips for sale during her weekly Sunday Sale (for $8!!!) so I couldn’t resist. I almost bought a second set.

I have heard EXCELLENT things about Orange Theory. I know once it’s a habit, it’s easier, blah blah blah…but dude gas ain’t cheap and neither is Barre! I go through phases with Yoga with Adriene (on YouTube). Great workouts from sweaty to relaxing and it’s all done at home. I’ve been meaning to do a two-a-days with her videos and other workout but never have.

It’s necessary that we chat soon. Now that we both have swing schedules, we totally can!! Woot to being our own boss ladies. 😉

I think the eBooks sound like a super idea. I have no brilliant idea of what you could produce for me just yet…but I’ll think on it.

    • Angelica @GardeningInHighHeels

YES. For real. Random Wednesday blog boosting/brainstorming/mojo-gettin’-back session? Yes, because we can, Boss Lady! 😀

Thanks for the confirmation that I’m on a good path! I’m so not an eBook person (because I don’t know how to do it….yet), but I like the idea of a resource guide and I want to jump on this early in the bandwagon stage. Let me know!
